A Slice of Americana

Liliana and Julietta have the loveliest bond. Julietta might just be the luckiest little sister in the world. Her siblings adore her and she knows it.

Ooh I love those rolls.

I love them so much I had to put two versions of this shot on the Sunflower Telegraph. {grin}

Sneak Peek

In mid August the sunflowers were in full bloom. We captured some great Kansas moments in a local field. Check back in the next week for [a lot] more sunflower photos!

Bon Voyage

Miles got ready to go to graduate school and we wished him adieu with several of his favorite people.

These are some of the favorite people - the ones making the Miles sandwich.

The surprise party was organized and hosted by Miles' co-favorite sister, Rena. It was pretty rockin'. There were burgers, beer, and chess.

And friends, of course.

We are so proud of Miles and all of his accomplishments, but we wish California was a lot closer!

We miss you Miles!

Excuse the Interruption

This is not at all in sequence, but this past weekend Ella and Liliana played their third volleyball match of the season. They have won all three sets, losing only one game of nine. The scores have typically been very high (see above - we were guest). This is Ella and Liliana's second year of volleyball. They have improved so much. Click play (above) to see Ella serve and the team volley. The Saints are wearing blue and white. Ella is number 25 on the right and Liliana is number 21 on the left.

Field Trip

I can't get enough of these curls.

Now that the big kids are at school all day, Julietta and I have to fill the days with Mommy/baby time.

One of our favorite places to go is the neighborhood park two blocks from our house.

Julietta loves to slide.

Back up. {grin}

But her true love is the swing.

Good Friends and Summer Nights

Ella, Liliana, and Jack spent many a summer day playing with our favorite neighbor, Miles. Miles moved to Manhattan recently. We miss him a lot, but can't wait to schedule our next play date. As I was making this post Miles' mom, Stacee emailed me the above photo {great minds, I guess, grin}. She took it in our front yard the day before their family moved. I took the photo below behind our house the day they left.

Back to School

The monkeys are back in school. On August 18, 2010, Ella and Liliana began fourth grade and Jack started first grade.

Everyone chose a juicy red apple for their teacher.

We couldn't just take photos at home.

Here are a few on the first day in front of school.

We were trying to think of a cute smile and say cheese photo pose when we came up with this lovely pose. Liliana started to laugh and said "I feel like I'm the dad and Ella is pregnant for this picture!"

After photos the children got in line to go inside and start their year. Of course, we had to take a few more pictures. {grin}

Once we got home Julietta needed to make some calls. The house was pretty quiet without the big kids, I was worried she would be lonely.

Turns out she had plenty to do.
