On the last day of April we headed to Tennessee to spend May Day celebrating Keith and Tiffany's nuptials. It was raining when we left.
Once we finally got to the hotel (12 hours after we left), it was pouring. The rain was coming in everywhere - through the ceiling, the windows, everywhere. We got settled and everyone was asleep when a siren woke me up at around 3 am. An instant later our hotel room phone began to ring.
There were tornadoes touching down at the vineyard where Keith and Tiffany's wedding would be later that day. We were being evacuated from our room. So, we woke the children and headed to safer quarters.
Julietta thought it was great - she doesn't care for sleeping much.
The rest of us were not as thrilled to be hunkered down in the basement hallway. (Especially after we go the all clear only to have it happen all over
again several hours later).
We finally got back to sleep.
But the next day there was a
dilemma. The rain had rained out the wedding location. Tornadoes and
torrential rain had caused massive flooding and no one could go anywhere. We found interesting ways to entertain ourselves. We watched movies on tiny
TVs, looked out the window at the still pouring rain,
made forts,
had hallway races,
played drinking games (I'm joking - only Julietta drank beer) (Seriously - I'm joking).
he, he.
And, we learned how to bet - thanks Mike and Dan - really, thanks.
Liliana won five bucks on her Derby bet.
